What Are The Pentecostal Beliefs?

By Grace Griffin

It is a known fact that Pentecostal beliefs differ from one Pentecostal church like the Pentecostal churches in Lexington KY; to another. This is because they are not governed by a single central organization directing and managing all the churches identified under Pentecostalism. There are churches belonging to Pentecostalism but are Non-Trinitarian, and there are also others that are Trinitarian, or those focused on the belief that God is a Triune God, existing as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit belonging to a single Godhead. However, there are few of the core beliefs that Pentecostals share; and these beliefs distinguish them from the other Christian denominations.

They share their belief of Pentecost which is a scriptural event that happened when the Holy Spirit descended upon the followers of Jesus Christ after He was executed - to all members of the Pentecostal. In addition to this, they also believe in the personal experience of God which is done in the process of Baptism in the Holy Spirit. And Pentecostals also have faith in the evocation of the teachings that there is a spiritual power and worship styles of the old Christian church. In fact, these various charismatic signs of faith for example the speaking in tongues, the interpretation of the message relayed in the speaking of tongues, the use of faith healing, prophecy and the discernment of spirits are all Pentecostal beliefs that belong not only to the Pentecostal churches in Lexington KY but also to all the members of Pentecostals in the world.

Therefore, the beliefs of the Pentecostals, which is focused on the concept that the Holy Spirit who has been active and involved in the lives of the early followers of Christ; are just as involved in the lives of today's Christians, even the members of the Pentecostal churches in Lexington KY. This is also implied in the older Protestant churches and in Catholicism, though many traditional Christians still don't entertain the idea that miracles are occurring around us everyday.

As of today, the Pentecostals are sold to the idea that speaking in tongues also known as glossalalia happens due to the manifestation of the Holy Spirit that works through the people who are of deep faith. These miracles are happening in today's modern world and that's made explicit in Pentecostalism. Pentecostals believed that these miracles experienced because it is needed in witnessing. This didn't die out since it is still available and that is needed just like when God gave it to His first followers.

Pentecostals believe that if the gift of the speaking in tongues is given to you, you must be willing to receive it. Distractions must be put aside so that the mind will not be tormented when you receive Him. You have to be ready to accept Him and receive Him by faith. This is commonly the belief of all Pentecostals shared by everyone who share the faith all over the world.
