Information Which May Determine The Identity Of The Mahdi

By Rachael Hansen

The Mahdi is one of a number of figures described within the religious texts of Islam, appearing within both Shia and Sunni documents. It is believed that he will appear during a time which is only specified loosely, however multiple events and traits may identify him. Knowing these can be useful when it comes to determining whether The Mahdi has arrived in the past or is still to come whether you are religious or simply curious.

It is very important to remember that two different sects - Sunni and Shia - have differing views on this subject. Although all of those concerned in the discussion are Muslim, it does not mean that they must agree upon every defining quality of The Mahdi. There are, however, traits commonly believed by both groups.

He will share the same name as Muhammad, for one, which may surprise some. As many have heard or know, the figure of Muhammad plays one of the most critical roles within Islam. Not only that, but he - The Mahdi - will be be a descendant of his, and have the namesakes of Hussain and Hassan from his bloodline.

It is also agreed that a black standard will be borne upon his arrival, and that a figure determined to be the Antichrist will arrive as well in his time. There is an agreement that the world will be in a state of peril and oppression during this time, and he will be there to correct the wrongs perpetrated by evil. Naturally this does not sound all that specific, but it is a place to start that is helpful for most.

There is one piece of information which is relatively detailed as well. The Mahdi will bear a broad forehead and prominent nose along with a natural mascara around the eyes. Of course many people can fit this particular description, but given the other traits he will require a clearer picture is drawn.

Of course much more info can be found throughout the world and web, and as already said this is just some of what it actually agreed upon by the Sunni and Shia. Both groups can be further researched especially if you happen to be interested in or belonging to one or the other. Hopefully you have some idea of when this man will arrive and where he may come from.
