The primary reason for wearing Hijabs (as well knows as Abayas in the Middle Eastern countries) as a Muslim girl is that it is a commandment of Allah (God) as may be seen by the following verse from the Quran:
"O Prophet (Might Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)! Tell thy wives and thy daughters plus the ladies of the believers to draw over them their cloaks (veils). That in the least accordingly that they be recognised without having to be molested. " (Surah Ahzaab, Verse 59).

It is too hard for those female who decide to start practicing Islam and begin putting on the Jilbab, while the rest of their family wear western clothes,.
